Earlier this year, the Pantone Color Institute named Ultra Violet as Color of the Year for 2018. But what else can we expect as the year unfolds? Here is a quick glimpse:
Regarding food and beverage, two things stand out:
Stations: Guests are looking for interactive experiences with their food. Perhaps the influence of shows like Chefs Table, Top Chef or Cooked, attendees are not just passively watching the process, but want to learn about sourcing, ingredients, & preparation while connecting with chefs and others around food.
Cocktails and Cocktail Receptions: The craft cocktail scene shows no signs of slowing down. Expect to see fortified wines like sherry, as well as flavor packed amaro to feature strongly. Coming on the coattails of the craft whisky scene, we should also expect new gins and gin-based cocktails. All of this pairs perfectly with a trend for more mobility, less seating, and more networking.
When it comes to decor, keep an eye out for these:
Patterns: Tribal patterns, particularly with strong contrasting colors and geometric shapes, are popping up a lot and promise to really hit the scene this spring and summer. Also, fabrics with large floral patterns are the talk of the town.
Wall Treatments: Following a trend in home decor, expect to see wallpaper treatments and murals, from graffiti to botanicals and greenery to stone and warm copper tones. One of my favorite props is the screen or backdrop, which is another way to add depth, color, and character to your event
